HAR BOOK CLUB
HAR Book Club is a community-focused reading and cultural space that invites people from diverse backgrounds to gather, read, and connect. We believe that books and shared conversations have the power to bring people together, offering moments of reflection, learning, and belonging. The space is open to newly arrived migrant families, young people, older adults, and anyone interested in culture and intercultural exchange.
For many migrants and community members, settling into a new environment can be challenging and isolating. Through accessible and thoughtfully curated reading and cultural activities, HAR Book Club creates a welcoming and supportive environment where people can take part at their own pace. Here, differences in language, culture, and life experience are respected and valued as opportunities for mutual understanding and growth.
HAR Book Club is a key community project and physical hub of HAR Cultural Foundation Ltd. It serves as one of the Foundation’s primary platforms for translating its charitable mission into everyday community life, delivering programs that advance public welfare, cultural engagement, and social connection.
The Book Club hosts a wide range of activities, including reading groups and themed reading programs, public talks and open conversations on culture, education, family, and social issues, as well as exhibitions and cultural events. Community gatherings and intergenerational activities further encourage meaningful interaction and shared learning across age groups and cultural backgrounds.
In addition, HAR Book Club works in collaboration with churches, schools, and community organisations—through consultation and approval—to deliver cross-community and cross-institution initiatives. Through these partnerships, the Book Club seeks to nurture a space where relationships are formed, understanding is deepened, and culture is lived and shared within the community.
